The specific pieces that I have selected to submit with this blog I feel reflect me and my personality and show how I have grown in confidence while studying a foundation course in art and design. Over the last six months on this course I have produced a lot of work which has allowed me to develop my own style and understanding for textiles. I felt that I should document a mixture of work to show that I am versatile and that I will attempt anything. Documenting these chosen pieces in photographs shows the potential of my work however I feel art work is meant to be seen up close so that the detail, effort and complexity of a piece can be appreciated to its full potential and I feel that this is the case with my work.
The project above was based upon 'Alice in Wonderland' and the illustrations by John Tenniel. I created a mood board to express my initial ideas. I then created a small tactile book which I illustrated Alice in Wonderland characters and produced different textile samples. I feel that this project expresses the way that I like to work and shows how successful it can be.
